I was waiting for my prescription at Walgreens so I decided to grab. Burrito. Chicken Super w/Refried beans and hot salsa. The burrito itself was average in size. Flavor was ok. Nothing too special. Came with a handful of chips and no salsa. And a roasted pepper. Nothing id rush to go back for. But it was ok. I'll stick to my favorite spot in Millbrae.
The place has in and outside seating. Pretty clean. Small tho. But it does the job. -

The owner here is extremely cheap.
Cash only, so that he doesn't have to pay transaction fees or taxes Charges for chips! There is a tacky little sign next to the water cups, that say "water only!"
A lot of restaurants on the peninsula get away with being mediocre, and disrespecting their customers. This is one of them. When an owner is that cheap you have to wonder what type of ingredients they use -

Well here is the latest: my daughter asked me to go to Como Esta to get dinner, and since I was right there I said I would do it. The woman at the counter and I didn't recognize one another and she started to take my order. Then someone signaled for her to go into the kitchen, which she did for a moment, and then came back and said that the owner asked them not to serve me.
So apparently as a result of my critical Yelp review, She banned me from getting food for my family there!!!
Just FYI, we have lived in Midtown since the 1960s, and have been been customers at Como Está since the very first day it opened over 25 years ago. My husband figured out that we have literally spent well over $3000 there per year(!!) over all of those years, and have recommended them to many friends who did the same.
As I said, the food is good, the prices are reasonable, and most of the time everything goes smoothly. The problem occurs when they make a mistake and will not fix it unless you pay full price for an additional order. I would say that 90% of the time everything is fine.
We often get food there several times a week. When one is such a frequent customer, naturally there will be more mistakes. Also, being that we have been faithful regulars for so long, it is unconscionable that they would make us pay double to fix an order that was made in error, such as when they accidentally put cheese on my daughter's vegan tacos. Even if it were true that the customer (we) made the mistake, it is embarrassing and unprofessional to make us pay for an entire new order so that my daughter can have her dinner without cheese.
This kind of Service is unacceptable, and is a very immature response on the part of the owner. I apologize if I hurt her feelings in my previous review. I was very angry when my husband came home with three items and had to pay double for two of them.
I believe that the quality of customer service of an establishment is not based on the usual transactions when everything goes well. It is based on how they handle mistakes, be at theirs or the customer's. In my book, they have failed this test. -

Food poisoning!
Went there for lunch with friends from work. I ordered the super prawns taco. The prawns were undercooked, by I didn't think anything about it. That night the food poisoning hit me!
Several others, like me, had their order messed up, but at least that doesn't cause 24 hours of pain & yuck... -

If you have to survive on Middlefield road in Palo Alto/MTN view area you have to be good. Good flavor, good service. Salsas are very potent
